We Specialize in iPhone Data Recovery

iPhones are incredibly complex and when they fail customers may lose access to any data they have not backed up. Unfortunately, data loss is all too common of an occurrence as iPhones need to be fully working in order to access the user data. Some mistakenly believe that only the NAND memory chip needs to be undamaged and accessed. However, the iPhone needs the original CPU, EEPROM, as well as NAND chip in order to decrypt the data and make it accessible to the user. This means your iPhone must turn on and data must be transferred either by connecting to a computer or through iCloud because of Apple encryption. All parts such as the screen, battery, and charging port must be functioning. Moreover, the iPhone motherboard must be fully working as well and this is where the customer will start to run into trouble finding a reputable data recovery service that can help.

Data recovery is needed for these reasons:

Water Damage

Water or liquid damage is one of the most common causes of data loss. It will corrode your motherboard causing no power to your iPhone and preventing access to your pictures, contacts, text messages, and other data.

High Impact

Dropping your phone not only has the possibility of damaging your screen and glass, but can also damage the motherboard internally. If your phone suffers a severe drop, is crushed, or is ran over by a car it is likely that the motherboard will also be damaged. Capacitors on the board may short to ground, coils may loosen, and traces may become disconnected. When the damage is severe enough, your motherboard itself might even snap in half. We can even recover data from snapped motherboards with a CPU Swap

Spontaneous Failure / Voltage Spike

Sometimes your iPhone may die for no obvious reason, even when you have taken immaculate care for its lifetime. iPhone design is not without fault and they may fail for seemingly no reason at all. In these cases, it is typical to find a shorted capacitor on either a primary or secondary power rail which will bring down the whole motherboard and cause need for a professional iPhone data recovery service to address.

Flexion

Since the iPhone X, all iPhone motherboards have a "stacked" design. This means that there are actually two motherboards that are stacked on top of each other and connected with an interposer (sometimes referred to as a "sandwich board). This design was intended to reduce the overall footprint of the motherboard and allow more room for other components, such as a bigger battery. This was a great leap of innovation but also comes with some inherent problems; most notably a weakness to flexion. If your iPhone bends too much, even from normal usage like putting your phone in your back pocket, it can cause the pads that connect these boards to break. They are also more susceptible to damage from common drops. When the pads that connect the two boards break, it will cause many problems. It will either make your iPhone show a boot looping Apple logo, cause a 3 minute reboot, or make your iPhone not turn on at all.

Technician Damage

Unfortunately it is not uncommon for iPhone repair shops to damage your iPhone during routine service such as screen replacements. If the battery is not unplugged or a small component is accidentally knocked off then it is likely that image or touch will fail, or the phone may completely stop functioning.

USB C Failure (iPhone 15 Pro / Pro Max)

With Apple's move to USB-C, we are finding that aftermarket or bad USB-C charging cables are damaging the iPhone 15 series motherboards. This failure will cause the iPhone to no longer charge as well as for the touch screen to no longer register touch inputs. Without these two functions, we cannot connect to a PC to start a backup.

iBoard Repair is an expert at recovering data from all of these issues.

The CPU Swap: Advanced iPhone Data Recovery

At iBoard Repair, we specialize in CPU swaps—an expert-level recovery technique essential when an iPhone is severely damaged or its motherboard is physically cracked. This advanced process allows us to restore functionality and recover data from devices that might otherwise be considered beyond repair, such as those run over by a car or dropped from a multiple story building.

In our featured video, we demonstrate the full, real-time process of an iPhone 14 Pro CPU swap. The procedure involves preparing a donor motherboard by removing its CPU, NAND, and EEPROM, and meticulously cleaning and reflowing the solder pads for your original data chips. We then carefully remove, reball, and place your iPhone's data chips onto the donor board.

This procedure demands the highest level of precision and expertise. Every step must be executed flawlessly; any error can result in an unsuccessful recovery. Our technicians exercise great care, patience, and perform thorough testing throughout the process to ensure the best possible outcome.

By mastering such intricate techniques, iBoard Repair can revive iPhones that others might deem unrecoverable, providing you with a solution for even the most challenging cases.
